The Basque Country – 7 Day Trail
1st Day : Accous - La Pierre St Martin
The Basque Country, green, red and white Departing from Accous, we will ride through the mountain pass of Bouesou and the extensive Isseaux Forest. We will then carry on over summer pastures until we get to Pierre St Martin, a charming ski resort.
2nd Day : La Pierre St Martin - Licq Athery
We will set off across the mountains and the St Engrace valley, riding through our first Basque village with its eleventh century Romanesque church. After a stretch on the high plains, we will take the Gr 10 to join Licq Atherey.
3rd Day : Licq Atherey - Iraty
We will head towards the Iraty ski resort and its forest, one of the biggest and best preserved beech and fir forests in Europe. We will stop off for a picnic at Forges de Larrau and will be able to admire the splendid views of the Orly Peak during our overnight stop (2017m).
4th Day : Iraty - Esterencuby
Today, we will enjoy great riding along the scenic trails of the cross-country car rally, “Rallye des cimes”, where we will get the chance to see ancient monolithic alignments (chromlechs )
5th Day : Esterencuby - St Jean Pied de Port
Following shepherd paths across rolling hills, we will head towards St Jean Pied de Port, a small picturesque town encircled in Vauban-style town walls with spectacular mountain views of the borderline between France and Spain. We will then head towards Ascarrat where we will spend the night.

6th Day : Ascarrat - St Etienne de Baigorry
We will wander the Basque mountains, and will enjoy a few gallops along the way, with beautiful views of St Etienne de Baigorry nestled in the valley. In the evening, we will be able to taste the delicious Irouleguy wine made from the vine-covered hills that surround St Etienne de Baigorry. _ On the hills towards St Etienne de Baîgorri
7th Day : Jour St Etienne de Baigorry - Artzamendy
We will head towards the Spanish border, following old smuggler paths through Bidarray towards the mountain pass of Veaux. We will spend the night in a rustic Spanish “Venta” .
