1st Day : 8:00 Breakfast and saddle up 9:00 Departing from the Auberge Cavalière and heading North, we will take the scenic An path to reach Lescun. We shall spend the night in the village, facing the “Aiguilles d’Ansa (Ansabère needles) and the “Pic Rouge” mountain peak. We will be amazed at their beauti colours during sunset. 2 nd Day : We will ride past the Labérouat refuge and cross the Sanchèse plateau to reach th Lhers plateau, a summer grazing area as well as a sanctuary for the last Pyrenean bears. A visiting the Aumet and Caillau Cayolars (shepherd huts) we will travel on until we get to t National Park refuge next to the Arlet Lake. There, we will enjoy the stunning mountain v and watch the majestic flight of the griffon vultures.
3rd Day : On the mountain crest that forms the natural border between France and Spain, w admire the breathtaking views of both countries. Espélunguère, les Forges d’Abel, and the Somport cross-country ski slopes to name but a few ! We may even be lucky enough to enc a marmot or an izard ! We shall spend the night in Somport. The name of this beautiful mo pass comes from the latin “summus portus” which meant the higher mountain pass betwee Galia and Hispania.
